Junior League women make things happen -- They form strategic partnerships, create innovative programs and raise funds for exciting community initiatives. So what sets Junior League volunteers apart from the rest? They are not only women who want to improve communities; they are women with training and skills to make it happen!
Over the past several years, the women of JLGA have elected to focus fundraising and service project efforts on issues surrounding the well being of children in our community. Some of the programs/agencies supported by the JLGA include "Kids in the Kitchen" which provides education to children and parents to stop childhood obesity; the "All God's Children Must Have Shoes" program which provides new shoes to underprivileged children identified within our area schools; and the Madison County Child Advocacy Center which provides a supportive, child-friendly environment for severely abused children, and "Community Outreach Initiative" in which Junior League funds and volunteer efforts are directed towards local agencies or causes impacting the greater Alton area.
